We have the Orbis and the bracket at the studio. It is good for the price but not great for location use as it sucks up a lot of light!
I can recommend it *** if you wanna get that look and not pay £900+ for the real thing.
:)
We have just had a very successful course last weekend... beauty, fashion and lingerie lighting with Phil Drinkwater in Blackpool, Lancashire.
They are worth doing if the photographer is to a high standard and you get a good model included as well.
All the students went home with great images...
I have the SB900 and 600 and never found the thermal cut off to be a problem, it has gone off once or twice but only when I am using the flash full power for a longer time, you can turn it off in the menu settings as well if its a problem.
Hope that helps
To avoid this in camera I would move your subjects further away, it looks as if light is spilling on the background and thats what's causing the blotchy spots.
Also maybe try a higher shutter speed if your triggers/lights can sync higher.
Hope that helps
:)
Doubt 300 watts would be enough to overpower the sun ***.
If I was gonna invest in some location lighting for the beach ect would like an alien bee 1600 or a good ring flash.
:)
Would love a Alien bee 1600 and pack for location work.
There ringflash looks interesting as well but heard bad reports on it saying it isn't made well.
