Tamron & Canon lenses for novices

Thanks for all the info, but maybe I didn't explain my question properly. I know the Tamron won't be as good as the Canon equivalents, but for 70 quid will it be a bad purchase as a first telephoto just to give me the extra range over my kit lens?

Tamron & Canon lenses for novices

Hi, Straightforward question I hope, but i'm new so be patient! Would a novice like me notice the difference between the Tamron 55-200mm F4/5.6 DI II Macro EOS and the Canon EF 55-200 F4.5/5.6 USM/2? The tamron is obviously loads cheaper, but based on advice from another of my questions...

    NEWBIE ALERT! Is Aperture enough?

Thanks Hypnotic. I have to say - this is a very friendly forum. I also ride mountain bikes and use their forums, and you almost have to wear virtual armour or become immune to sneering when posting a question.

    NEWBIE ALERT! Is Aperture enough?

Hi, I'm brand new, both to D-SLR photography and to this site, although I've enjoyed photography on a point and shoot basis for a long time. Having just bought myself an EOS 450d and already having a Macbook with Aperture, my pictures are already looking loads better. However, I notice a lot...
