Currently reading Twenty Thousand Streets Under the Sky by Patrick Hamilton. Just discovered him recently and read Hangover Square prior to this. Very bleak but engrossing stories of London life between the wars.
Miles - The Autobiography, just starting but it's looking like a good read so far.
Also got Magnum Stories on the go at the moment, have to have a photography book to pick up when the urge strikes.
I made the same move a couple of years ago. The viewfinder and the particularly the ISO capability are worlds apart.
You won't notice much difference in focusing capability, the 5DII isn't great, and I've never used the video capability, so can't comment on that.

Found it to be very solid and reliable, even for longer exposures. Easily holds a 5DII and 70-200 without a collar. It's also good when rotating the ball to portrait orientation, but if you're going to do that often, I'd recommend...
Do take them in portrait, but I'd overlap them more than a tiny bit, if you accidentaly leave a gap, the pano is ruined. The general consensus is around 25%.
You don't need to take them on a tripod either, I've taken quite a few panoramas handheld.
Mainly use the 70-200 f/4L IS, sometimes with a 1.4 TC. Mostly though I shoot travel and landscapes. If I did shoot more sport I'd get a different body, even a 7D would be a big step in the right direction.
Yeah the AF on the 5DII is not the best. What mode are you using?
