The Amazing Sony A1/A7/A9/APS-C & Anything else welcome Mega Thread!

I emailed Cotswold yesterday. They have taken Sony products off teh site at the moment due to stock shortages. I have spend loads with them over the last couple of years and never had any issue. To me it is probably the sign of an honest company pulling products off a site they cannot deliver on

Working for Agencies - making my first step, advice please

Started the thread with Sony A9s, if I remember correctly. Now A9iiis, A1 and A1ii. Sony 400mm and 70-200mm would likely be the combo I used for most of the images here but I really like the 300mm F2.8. I don't do football or rugby much these days. Now have a few clients who I really like...

I never use it to update any of mine. Far prefer to use a card in camera

Sony Rumours saying more Firmware goodies coming for A1ii. AI White Balance and then potentially That's the one I was talking about but you remember all teh changes better than me. I think the creator app for updating came at the same time.

No, they were all the same but obviously had to programme in things like ratings and delete on both cards. I was updating from the previous version. I think there may be a cut off where you lose settings and it may be when the creator app came in and allowed updates from teh phone

I sold quite a bit of kit last month to fund the A1 ii. Tamron 35-150 hadn't been used since I got the 50-150, likewise the 135mm GM. Also sold the 85mm F1.8 and will likely sell the 85mm GM and buy the Mk2. Next to go will be the 16-35GM which I hardly use to fund the 16-28 F2 when it comes...

Z9 sensor readout is 1/270 and z6iii is 1/70. Z9 can get away without a shutter in most cases because of that. Z6iii needs the backup of the mechanical. Z6ii was 1/20 so a big improvement over its predecessor.

This is the line from my Hiscox Policy. - Property - equipment breakdown £5,000 cover £250 excess £19.60 cost I am guessing that any item that simply breaks down and is not dropped etc would be unlikely to cost more than 5 grand to fix.

Some policies do but it costs quite a bit more. I have it on mine but with a pretty heavy 500 excess on repairs. When I wasn't making money from my cameras my home policy only covered damage not faults.

Cotswold do loyalty points. So basically 1% discount of purchase off future purchase. That looks close to the difference in price. That reminds me I have 50 odd quid sitting there that needs spending. Much wait for teh 16-28 F2 and not be tempted with other lenses

I haven't used it enough to make an informed decision. What is easily noticeable is it definitely picks up heads and eyes far more easily on more distant subjects. That doesn't necessarily mean sharper images though so not sure it is a big advantage apart from the user's confidence in the...

Should I Join a Photography club

Yep, pretty much the same as the football season in Scotland. In the summer our club, Midlothian, try to have an outing each month in the summer.

A very useful update. No issues as far as I can see after updating but I have only given it a quick test. Ability to rate on both cards simultaneously very welcome for me although I wish it worked for protect too. Custom and small, extra small focus points too. I may just keep my A1 as it is...

Should I Join a Photography club

Just back from our Camera Club's Christmas Night out and had a great laugh. Lots of decent photographers among our number and there are competitions both club and National but it is essentially a social club. That is one of the reasons I continue to join even if I don't go in for as many...

You may well be right. They will have to pick up some extra batterirs and memory cards too.
