Ayers Rock Australia - include a visit? yes or no

My brother went backpacking around Australia and said Uluru was a waste of time and money. I've not been there myself (though I have done a few days in Sydney on the way to NZ), but I don't think I'd bother either, unless it was on the way to somewhere I was going anyway. It's not like Oz is...

    which camera for travelling

If it was me, I'd make the effort to take the D300. I spent 2 months in NZ last year visiting my brother and there are times when I wish I'd had something more substantial/capable than a D40x. It's a good little camera, but I missed a few shots because of poor ISO performance, limited focal...

    and now 5d2 with 580exII for 1799!!!

I'd be stunned if Canon increased the price by £400 as that would put the body only at £2200. With Nikon on the verge of releasing an updated D700, you would think that Canon would be trying to saturate the market. Of course, they may feel that the close price difference between the 7D and...

    and now 5d2 with 580exII for 1799!!!

Plus they've put the price up by £50 on the 5dMkII + 24-105  Still a good deal to be fair, but I'm going to see what happens in Feb regarding the video firmware update. I'm hoping that Canon are going to run some deals to promote that, but who knows? I don't really need the 580, and...

    7D £1249 and get a 580EX free.

I was seriously considering the 5D MkII + 24-105L for £2349, but they've now jacked up the price by £50. I think I'm going to wait and see what February brings us in terms of deals/new products as I can get the same package from Kerso for not a lot more. With the video firmware update on the...

Is their website down for anyone else?

    7D £1249 and get a 580EX free.

I REALLY didn't need to see this offer :( I've been seriously pondering a 5D MkII and one of the main things holding me back was having to lay out £200 for the 430 flash unit. I'm also waiting for the the firmware update that gives more video frame rate options that is rumoured to be...

    Earplugs

Haha, all the drummers are coming out the woodwork now :) I must admit, I've never tried custom moulded plugs. It's not really the cost that worries me, but fact that I'm liable to lose them. If I lose the Elacins, it's ~£12 to replace them. I'm always taking them in and out as well, so I...

    Earplugs

Yes, check out the Elacin ER20. It filters the harmful frequencies without killing too much of the music. There are compromises with any solution, but the Elacins are a LOT better than the foam plugs IMO.

    Earplugs

Hi konastab01, This is actually a subject that is very close to my heart as I see a lot of people at gigs without plugs, and quite frankly I think everyone should have them. I play drums and the amount of musicians who aren't looking after their ears is shocking IMO. I run a drum site with...

    Computer Advice Please

If you aren't planning on playing any games, you don't need a super expensive graphics card. You can buy a simple £50 card and it will perform exactly the same as a £400 card in windows, obviously games will benefit from a more expensive card. Something like an 8500GT will most likely do exactly...

    heard a strange noise today

Digital for me all the way. I like to have a good play in photoshop and love the fact I can take practice shots of anything and everything and it's not costing me anything. Cost of film and then getting it developed just doesn't do it for me.

    pizza delivery people

Depends how long they take to deliver. If they say 40 minutes and it's over an hour, they get nothing. If they're on time, I usually bung a quid or so on top. Saying that, it's pretty rare that I'll order a pizza because they're so flipping expensive where I live. It's usually when I've got...

    Snow

Today has been one of the oddest days when it comes to the weather. Got up and it was grey, dull, cold and drizzling. Then at 11am, the heavens opened and we had a pretty heavy bout of snow for about 45 minutes which just happened to co-incide with my dad walking the dog, we had a very wet (and...

    Nikon Cashback Question?

Just letting everyone know that I received my cashback cheque on Tuesday. I didn't fill in the yellow slips, but obviously filled in the cashback form. Means I got the D40x (plus kit lens), brand new for £310. Bargain!! ;)
