    B*stards!

Sadly it's another example of why stocks and/or the pillory should be brought back as a punishment, I'd get great pleasure from pelting dross like them with rotting stuff, not necessarily rotting fruit or veg either :bat:

Which PC / laptop / Mac?

I'm using the PC I built myself 3ish years ago, based on an AMD Piledriver 3.8GHz quad-core processor and an NVidia GTX-950, along with 8Gb RAM, all lovingly hand-crafted in a 'Corsair Silent' case .... :D I cannot stand Apple, but each to his/her own ;)

Have you ever taken a photo and cannot understand why you like it?

One of the things I discovered when I joined my local photo-club a couple o' years ago, is just how subjective photos are. After entering piccies in the various competitions held through the year and having them examined by outside 'professional' judges, a pic I entered into 2 competitions came...

    The pain of photography

35~40 years of cycling in/around London has now left me with COPD and, thanks to countless mash-offs, arthritis in my left limbs (so much for saving the planet!) - No way could I carry my old bag full of gear (2 camera bodies, 3 lenses, motor-film-winder plus umpteen filters) so a decent...

Are DSLRs too complex for beginners

It was to a certain point, but it gave me a good grounding in dial-twiddling, along with which scene-settings were useless (i.e. 'Sunset' completely over-saturates the colours)

What will be your next photography related purchase? Or what photography gear do you lust after?

The only thing I'm lusting for is some warm sunny weather to photograph in, rather than this dismally dull, flat sky with mizzling rain.... Unless of course Nikon or someone develops a new camera with a 40Mpx sensor and a lens that can range from 25mm to 1800mm at f2.8 throughout, ohh and...

Are DSLRs too complex for beginners

When I got my Nikon bridge-camera a few years ago, one of the 1st things I did (after drumming my fingers for hours, waiting to charge the battery) was to take a series of photos on each of the umpteen 'Scene' settings, just to see how good/bad/accurate they were. Afterwards, I took the same or...

    Panning success rate

I almost feel guilty now, using my camera's Auto 'Scene' settings. 'Sports' mode gives me focus-tracking and a 10-shot burst, then the ''Bird-Spotting' mode gives focus-tracking+single or multiple shots. Then again though, being a bridge-camera, I don't have time to fiddle with the menus to...

What have you done with your camera today

Oohh that's good, here's a couple more to 'inspire' at (or groan at, depending :D)
