    Subject Failure?

A few comments confusing me, you don't need the subject to be looking at the camera to be a portrait, and it's an environmental portrait, so it's meant to show the environment around him. I agree with slightly cropping, and I prefer the B&W the lighting suits it, but for me it doesn't work...

    Beginner Back Button focussing

Muscle memory takes a while to sink in so give it a while, but separating focus from the shutter gives you lots more flexibility. And yes you can manually pick a focus point on a modern mirror less camera using the directional controls or the touch screen, but BBF focus and recompose is virtually...

Great Day today for the wind farms :-) and Solar :-)

Ah yes I remember reading that now. Yes, an investment in renewables, and to be fair, it is increasing rapidly and with labour removing the planning blocks about to accelerate again. But then other countries are achieving similar without huge rises in bills due to government price caps....

Switching from Nikon pro DSLR to Canon mirrorless - body advice needed

R6ii is a great camera, and essentially the same body as the R5 apart from the top plate and sensor so if you don't like the R6 you won't like the R5. Personally, I think the ergonomics and ease of use are fantastic, whereas a Sony feels like a toy to me ( but fantastic sensors and great lens...

Great Day today for the wind farms :-) and Solar :-)

Awesome stats, but why are the bills still so high then, it was all due to Putin and Russian gas, so what gives if it's such a small percentage of the power supplied?

    Canon RF800 test shots

Hmm, Like a lot of people I'm caught up in the RF200-800 vs RF100-500 vs RF800 pickle, so I ordered the RF800 as I've seen some great shot with it, but, also some awful ones. Took it out this morning, and yes, nailed some super sharp shots which at 800mm is amazing for a lens at this price, but...

A backpack to rule them all.

Had tons of bags over 30 years, Lowepro to Domke, all irritated me with poor design choices, just bought a Mindshift, over the moon with it, no issues at all.

Who inspires me - an open thread

Attitude inspires me, the people who get out there and do things, the ones who don't care about money fame or status, they just love what they do and have so much enthusiasm for their work. These are the ones that are often derided as 'lucky', no, getting up at dawn for weeks on end to get the...

    Best place to sell cameras

If you're selling on e bay take lots of photo's, from every angle, or a video showing you handling it. I sold a faulty lens, not badly broken a stuck aperture blade so fixable and 99% worked, buyer bought it without reading the description, admitted he didn't read the description and wanted his...
