Yes an easy job, what I would suggest is do it in small batches, that amount of pics will take a lot of time. You can drag and drop, or send to hard drive. when you plug hard drive in PC it will show on PC and ask what you want to do. If it doesn’t go to files it will show up there. So...

Thanks, I’m guessing it will be able to write to exfat. as the hard drives I have are NTFS. My idea being buying and keeping new hard drive for iPad only.

If I buy a external hard drive, is it possible to format it from new to exfat, on a laptop. Then transfer all photos from iPad to external hard drive.

I have an ipad which i use for all my photos, i am looking for a laptop which would only be used as a bridge to remove photos from ipad to a external hard drive, then as a screen to look at pics. My main concern is with a lower storage capacity on a smaller laptop would it be up to the process...

I went from the Hero 4 to 9 still finding my way around it, going on first impressions great video quality, what sealed it for me in choosing between 8 or 9 was the horizon levelling and able to shoot photos in raw. It more or less does a way with having to use a gimbal.
