Whats best for taking macro photos?

If costs is a consideration, why not buy yourself a Panasonic Lumix LX3 - its a fantastic little compact that deals with Macro shots admirably, especially outdoors and if you're capturing bugs etc, its shutter won't scare off the little buggers! LX3 retailing at below £300 and can still give my...

    400d v 30d

Canon 30D its the better camera by far. It would provide a better balance with the 70-200 lens too! The 400d is an entry level camera, only consider it if size and weight is a consideration.

Any Nikkor 105mm AFS micro users?

I have this mounted on a Nikon D300 which isn't full frame but is my favourite all time lens. Excellent for Macro shots of Flowers, insects etc but i don't like it for portraits as its a bit long on a DX camera. If you need a good review of the 105 VR Micro try kenrockwell.com

Picked up my new camera today....a GF1

Does anyone have a recommendation for a 3rd party GF1 Battery which works with updated firmware 1.1? I know there are many available on ebay but does anyone have any experience of them?

Too right! My 14-45mm hardly gets used as the 20mm is so supreme. I can see myself using the zoom a few times a year, like on holiday, but the GF1 is another animal with the pancake. After a week of GF1 heaven, i've not touched my Nikon D300 at all. To tell the truth, i've hardly used the...

I can't be certain if the skin will last and last Glenn. However it would not be too unreasonable to think that the skin guard would fray around the edges over time and that the surface area will also be subject to wear and tear in the areas you handle it the most. But for me, the job of the...

Picked up my new camera today....a GF1

Just received my SGP Skin Guard in Deepblack (leather look) + Screen Film on ebay from a seller called wowsomethingnew for USD17.99 delivered. It arrived from Korea to the UK in a week! What a fantastic product, gives the GF1 a real luxurious retro look. The screen protector, that came with...

    Mesh Computers...

MESH computers - gosh are they still trading? I remember looking at their gear 20 years ago!!! Back in those days the big boys were, Elonex, Mesh and Viglen....now its all Dell, HP, Asus etc. MESH they were top then and probably top now. Just for the record i brought a 486Dx something or...

I think with the tiny EVF attached to the GF1, the camera really does look like quality Leica gear (from a distance) whereas without the EVF attached the GF1 looks rather like an oversized LX3 ?! If you got the loot - buy it. As for the case, a Panasonic DMW-PGS19, its not worth the RRP £35...

Its a lot better than the one on the Leica Digilux 2 (although as someone else posted earlier - that's not saying much!) I'm looking to attach my Nikon lenses using an adaptor (yet to buy) and i think the EVF will enable easier focusing and handling on the bigger lenses. Also like many...

Picked up my new camera today....a GF1

Hello All New here and have been observing everyone's comments on the GF1 and finally plumped for the GF1 Twin lens kit along with the EVF, an extra battery and a nifty Lumix G case (DMW-PGS19) all for the grand sum of £980. Got myself a real bargain (me thinks) along with the £50 cashback and...
