    Beginner Help! What Film?

Thanks both. It certainly seems like film can be quite the rabbit hole. I've started looking for scanners... But first of all, I need to find out if the cameras work. James

    Beginner Help! What Film?

Evening all! I'm a complete novice to film barring using disposable cameras when I was a child. Today, I picked up a little haul off Facebook Marketplace that contained a Kodak Retinette, Topcon RM300, assortment of lenses, filters and a flash for the princely sum of 10 quid. Anyway, whilst sat...

Notice Some big changes coming to TP

I'd be gutted to see this forum close. My photography has improved no end due the existence of this place and its members. I'll be genuinely sad to see it close.

Beginner Running coach needs advice about a video camera to observe a runners posture

I've had my gait (think that's the right term) analysed in the past but on a treadmill. Would a treadmill and a camera sat on a tripod work for you? Probably the cheapest and easiest solution. James

    Beginner Stock Photo Database?

Could you use lightroom and tag the images with the agency name? I seem to remember there's a comments feature in lightroom as well so you could record the reason for rejection in there. You could then use the text search feature to query your catalogue. I seem to recall there's a way you can...

    Paper Recommendations for B&W

Thanks for all the informative replies. Based on those it seems that a matt paper would best suit my images. I'll have a look around for swatches and will order some small sample prints. Looking at the wall space I think they'll be A4 at the absolute most so that should drive cost down...

Lighting a bus - advice please

What's the purpose of the image? Could you get away with location shots and use the glow of street lights to light it?

    Paper Recommendations for B&W

I think that may well be the way forward. I tried out the Permajet Titanium Lustre paper I have last night and found that I didn't really like it. James

    Paper Recommendations for B&W

I think I'll be taking one of your recommendations, with Christmas coming up and an ink refill on the cards (for the 3rd time this year) I haven't got the spare cash to be ordering lots of test packs. James

    Paper Recommendations for B&W

Awesome, thanks for that detailed reply. I've just found out that the printer limit is actually 300gsm. My preference would be for a non-matt lustre type finish but that said, that's only because I'm used to printing on a lustre finish. I was looking at the Hahnemüle papers but some of them are...

    Paper Recommendations for B&W

Morning All, I was wondering if you could recommend some paper for printing black and white images, I'm currently Permajet Oyster as my 'go-to' paper but I'd like to try out some others. My original plan was to go with Permajet Titanium but as I've only tried Permajet and Canon papers I feel...
