Global shutter has arrived at last.....but in the Sony A9mk3

The a9 and a9II were/are basically distortion-free for all but the most niche/extreme circumstances. Fired off somewhere in the region of 150,000 frames across two a9s, 99% of them moving subjects, all with the electronic shutter, and I've never seen any distortion or even banding with interior...

Apple mini Mac M2 for Lightroom and limited PS

I've had my M1 Air (8GB) for 3 years now, since release, and it still rips through 40mp XH2 files without missing a beat in LR. Also doing loads of video editing in DaVinci Resolve and I get no hint of slow down whatsoever. Shooting 40+ events a year (3000+ images a time) so getting fairly heavy...

The Fabulous Fuji X owners thread

Always used to be but struggled a bit with weddings with them, so moved to Sony (as much as I wanted to keep the Fuji for personal stuff I couldn't justify two systems). In a position to have a Fuji setup for personal use now, so I'm very happy to be back. For certain types of shots it's miles...

    MPB

Same here actually, it seems to be luck of the draw with lead times to payment, they can be anything from within 24 hours to receiving the goods, to a week with hearing absolutely nothing. Given we as customers have no idea when the peaks and troughs for their business are, it's difficult to...

The Amazing Sony A1/A7/A9/APS-C & Anything else welcome Mega Thread!

Yep, tried and can't get on with a monopod at all. The wind was 20mph so my hit rate was pretty terrible to be honest, even with that much weight it was moving around so much.

Sat on my 60-600mm for a few months as I couldn't decide whether it was a keeper or not, just so large/excessive for me, who happily shot events on the Tamron 28-200mm last year. Took it out again on Saturday at Thruxton BSB and I'm beginning to love it... 600mm, 1/15 Thruxton BSB by Chris...

The Amazing Sony A1/A7/A9/APS-C & Anything else welcome Mega Thread!

It's amazing but you've got to learn to love it as it's also a pain in the butt! Despite being significantly quicker (in all respects) than the MK1 (which I also had) it's still fairly slow to do pretty much anything. Losing the AF module from newer Sony's also hurt pretty hard, I did find a...

The Amazing Sony A1/A7/A9/APS-C & Anything else welcome Mega Thread!

I went to replace an a9 with an A7c to have a smaller camera, but unless you specifically buy a very, very compact lens for it or have a bag/pocket that somehow fits that but not an a7 series camera, I'd struggle to recommend it specifically from a size point of view. Moving to the viewfinder...

The Amazing Sony A1/A7/A9/APS-C & Anything else welcome Mega Thread!

Didn't actually see the TC discussion when I posted my Festival of Speed pics, complete coincidence! 400mm at f5.6 on the 70-200 and a hefty crop, so 'as bad as it gets', for me this is more than sharp enough handheld (the full size file should be viewable on Flickr), far more likely to fall...

Tried the 70-200 2.8 (Mk1) with the 2x extender at the weekend, heard some horror stories about AF etc but as is usually the case, it was fine! A9A02454 by Chris Harrison, on Flickr FoS 2023 by Chris Harrison, on Flickr FoS 2023 by Chris Harrison, on Flickr

    Photography holiday: where to go?

Lisbon is next on my list, never been and it looks like a great place to hang out for a few days, some nice easy trips from there too such as Sintra.

    Why mac

I'm still using an M1 Air with 8GB of RAM and it absolutely flies, I've had Windows laptops with significantly more memory than start to wobble long before this thing does. Typically processing a couple thousand big ol' Sony RAWs per week at this time of year, bought the M1 at launch and...

    Photography holiday: where to go?

Yes! Been looking into this already. I'm a bit fed up of hot weather trips though, so I'm tempted to look at something a bit cooler (so maybe Scotland!)
