I brought second hand from Ebay, so did a mate of mine. The Camera's were local so we could see them before handing over the money. As long as you've read the descriptions properly, then second hand is a good starting point IMO, you can always upgrade later.

I done as Tom suggested, then tried to find one second hand to see how I get on, if i get into it more, I'll treat myself to a new one. Friend of mine liked the 1100d then picked up a twin lens kitted version off eBay that was local

Very true I was looking at tamron/sigma, but currys had a cashback offer making the Sony £150 so was only £20 over the price of a tamron.

Sony lens turned up today, had a quick play, but I seems so much better now. Looking forward to using it properly

Just brought a Sony SAL75300 75-300mm f/4.5-5.6 Lens so hopefully that will be okay. Thanks for the help

Hi all, Took the camera out today when walking the dog, and wow the 18-55 is rubbish for the shots I wanted to get. I had to more or less sit on the swans back to take a photo of it! And with the dog running about it doesn't really get the zoom shots I wanted. So looked about for a Sony A...

I've got some anti fog stuff that's good for limiting that, normally use it in the winter as I got fed up with walking into places and not being able to see.

I found some tutorial videos on LR 2, was hoping for some on version 4, but sound like the book is a better option.

Stuck with specs then as I've got astigmatism, had a play with the diopter, doesn't make much difference. Think it's just a matter of getting use to it

Thanks all, I think it's just something to get use to as all the compacts I've used you just use the screen to aim. Tried a few this morning with and without glasses, defo feels better without. Also downloaded a trial version of Adobe lightroom to see how the pictures come out ... think I...

So any tips with taking pictures while wearing glasses? Just finding it difficult, tried without glasses as well. My Sony has a line of settings at the bottom when looking through the eye piece, but can't really see much of them.

Wow, picked up the camera, and haven't got a clue how to use it! Been reading the manual for the passed 2 hours looking forward to getting started now. Think the dog is fed up with me trying to take photo's of him too!
