The Amazing Sony A1/A7/A9/APS-C & Anything else welcome Mega Thread!

Thanks for the comments @f/2.8 and @nandbytes, it's a good point that I'm trying to apply it with my existing lens line-up rather than duplicating focal lengths in smaller form factors.

The Amazing Sony A1/A7/A9/APS-C & Anything else welcome Mega Thread!

I picked up the Sony A7C on here a few weeks ago specifically for a trip to the US, wanting something smaller for day trips. Had a play the last few days but feel the RX00vii might've been a better choice, not really getting on with it. Although I know dimensions and weight are smaller, it...

Yeah, I did have a look at the Sony 20-70 as an alternative. I feel I just need to commit to a day with the 28-60 and see how I like it. It’s just such a compact package that I want to like it, but also know I’m a stickler for best IQ I can get regardless of weight and size!

The Amazing Sony A1/A7/A9/APS-C & Anything else welcome Mega Thread!

Just picked up an A7C for an upcoming US trip and wanting something a little less conspicuous than my A1s. I can't quite get my head round its size. It doesn't look that much smaller alongside the A1 and was wondering if I'd done the right thing. But then I can fit it in my 6 litre peak design...

Should I Join a Photography club

I’ve been a member of the club in Woodley for last 2-3 years so not a million miles away from you. I have thoroughly enjoyed it. As a 41 year old man, I did bring the average age down significantly and did nothing to help the gender bias to men, but there are a few reasons I’ve enjoyed it: 1...

Asked short notice to shoot a wedding, looking advice/help.

I completely agree, but as @AndrewFlannigan is saying, tickbox exercise is likely to be useful for someone new to this. What OP can do is fold in your advice to the request for a list - e.g. suggest it’s only 5 or 6 different group shots, because otherwise it does become long and laborious. You...

Asked short notice to shoot a wedding, looking advice/help.

Also, out source any group shots - get the couple to make a list in advance of any group shots they want, order it sensibly (e.g. any oldies don't have to keep coming in and out) and to give the list and responsibility to someone in the wedding party (preferably someone loud who knows most of...

Bit of fun - What old favourite DSLR would you get now ?

That's the thing about nostalgia, it's best left in the past! I loved the A700 and a900, but I wouldn't want to tarnish my memory of them by picking one up today

    “Gadgetitis” Causes GAS

As someone who works in the home improvement industry, there's definitely something to be said for having the right tool for the job. There are always innovations to make tasks easier, better, more efficient, and it shouldn't be seen as an issue to seek, discover and desire such tools. That...

Just wrapped up my first wedding in years and thoroughly enjoyed it. Can't quite beat being with the couple when they see the photos for the first time.

Thanks - yes indeed, picked it up for a wedding I was doing last week but with no other ‘side hustle’ jobs in the pipe, looking to pass on for what I paid for it. Ad is here for anyone interested: https://www.talkphotography.co.uk/threads/sony-a1-boxed-in-excellent-condition.767699/

The Amazing Sony A1/A7/A9/APS-C & Anything else welcome Mega Thread!

Are there any tent campers here? I’m getting the family into camping, but a bit concerned about how to keep my camera gear safe when we’re away from the tent. Does anyone have any good solutions aside from locking it in the car? Or suggestions what to do when taking the car on a day trip and not...

My weakest prime is the probably the 85 1.8, but I prefer the size vs the GM mk1 failings and don’t have the money to get the GM mk2. I’ve fallen back in love with the 50mm focal length since picking up the 1.4GM at Christmas after 15+ years away from it, but the 135GM remains my favourite Sony...

Why aren't there any decent USB battery chargers?

Check out the brand llano, I bought one of these for Sony recently and it's excellent. Integrated 12,400mha battery and two slots for batteries. https://www.amazon.co.uk/llano-LP-E6NH-12400mAh-Charging-Compatible/dp/B0D4DZS6T3?ref_=ast_sto_dp
