Do you ever lose interest for a while?

I lost interest in photography some 20 odd years ago. The Club lost its premises and had to move and I didnt want to travel. Work patterns also changed so went on to other things. I kept the interest alive on holidays and such, and recently bought a DSLR.I'm getting to grips with all the...

    Knowledge or Chimping

Actually CT the whole point is, its another step in the right direction. Now that I know what one function does I can move on to another and learn a bit more. Eventually I'll get there. That particular exercise was about the ISO settings, which I now understand. So next, I'll get to grips with...

    Knowledge or Chimping

I would like to add this to my previous post. Having found out how to alter the ISO when I took this I did seriously chimp to my wife about how I have now moved my abilities a step forward. So the point is, I chimp but I learn at the same time. So to the OP I do both and look forward to more...

    Knowledge or Chimping

I'm fully self taught. However I do want to keep learning. Example and dont mock please: I have just learned how to alter the ISO setting on my camera from auto to higher settings. So armed with this knowledge I went out last night and shot a series of images to test my new found ability...

Whats on your 2009 photography to do list

Good question. I'm happy with the gear I have, but I do need to get more imaginative and just try to learn more by taking more pic's. Also I really have to move away from the mindset I had 25 years ago when I was last involved in the hobby.

    The last thing you learned.

Yes there is. I was talking slightly tounge in cheek.:) Being an old f*rt now its harder to take it all in. ie: Only yesterday I learned how to link my camera directly to my laptop and by pass the card, shooting directly into the laptop. Now that's worth learning. I have so much to catch up...

    The last thing you learned.

When returning to photography after a 20+ year absence, throw away everything you previously knew, 'cause it is totally irrelevant to todays medium, and start learning all over again. Which is what I'm having to do, but its fun.

    bargain lighting set up £40

I have the other set up with these. 2 softboxes with those bulbs and stands. I dont think the bulbs are strong enough for studio other than fill in, so....I removed the bulb from one and mounted a powerfull flashgun [long cable ties] in the softbox firing directly through the difuser. Now that...
