From what I have seen most modern DSLRs aren't equipped to take a cable shutter release so I assume I have to invest in a remote shutter release. Are they a standard fit for all cameras or do I have to find one to fit my specific camera (Samsung NX11)?

I've just found this site and am looking for inspiration and advice. I was recently presented with a Samsung NX11 (with 18-50mm lens) as a long service gift from work so I'm experimenting at present. Having booked a trip to see The Northern Lights in Norway soon I need a quick lesson in night...
