I do like the look of the 100-400, but I’m not sure if it would be enough. With most of the team photos I’m at 50-70mm, sometimes wider if I’m really tight for space and have to get closer but I try to avoid doing that as much as possible.

Hi all, Does anyone have any experiences of either the Tamron 50-400mm or the Sigma 60-600mm for field sports? One of the companies I work for does kids sports photos to print and sell on the day. Lately it's been mostly rugby and football with a lot more expected over the summer. It usually...

Have you used it under floodlights or with any LED boards? If so you should be able to see the banding, I still get it on some LED boards on my A1.

Same, I keep trying with a monopod when shooting football/rugby but I usually take it off after 10mins.

Just checked my older galleries and pretty much everything below 1/20th is around 200mm and below with much lighter lenses. Maybe using a monopod is the way to get those images with the bigger lenses

Stance, core and upper body work and burst shooting, although to be fair I don't venture much below 1/20th. This is 1/20 with the 400mm f2.8

Exactly, same here Chris, it's great to tell if it's worked or not in that moment without chimping. I think it happens from any speed 1/60th and below (or at least that's when I start noticing it), but it does get more noticeable around 1/20th and lower imo and I will often start opening both...

I think I know the effect you mean and see it on my A9II and A1, Is it like you see a brief review of the photo you've taken, blur and everything, rather than high frame rate continuous view? Tbh it's never bothered me, but I did try that low limit setting you mentioned, and then turned it...

I've just checked my A1 and A9II on 2 different sites and it definitely only counts mechanical activations, A1 is at 151 and A9II is at 661, on Monday alone I fired off 1990 on the A1 and 2371 on the A9 :ROFLMAO: I think it does count the protective shutter each time as well as I don't think...

I made that same comment in a Facebook group when people kept moaning about the lack of firmware updates for the A1 and how it's no longer a flagship product :ROFLMAO: . If you can't tell the difference between a train, car or insect or just don't know where the focus should be, then maybe think...

Just looked through my menu and can't see anything with that name, only thing I can see is the Finder Frame Rate. Can't say I've ever had a problem with panning and usually I'm 1/60th or lower and always with electronic shutter. . ‍Edit, nvm, just saw the later post :headbang::ROFLMAO:

If you're talking about the FE 200-600 G, yes it is. The size never changes.

I'm at Castle Combe today and the heat haze is ridiculous at longer distances (400mm+). Most probably just that.....maybe.

Thanks Snerkler, went back and checked the time stamps and yep, 30fps. Obviously error on my part (trying to measure write speeds at the same time was not a good idea). Good job I don't do anything important :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:
