Monopod head for Swiss Arca plate?

‘Cos I’d like to have the option of something smaller and lighter than tripod and gimbal. My carbon tripod is very light, but the gimbal is pretty big and heavy. If I was going I’m carry the gimbal I might as well take the tripod as well.

Cheers, I’ll take a look at those.

Monopod head for Swiss Arca plate?

I’d like to use my monopod with my Swiss Arca plates and long lenses, but I am struggling to find a head that offers this. The only one I have found was the Benro DJ90, but strangely it wouldn’t quite tighten on any of my various brand plates (all of which work with my Wimberly gimbal). Dunno...

    Lowepro Trekker Tripod mount

It looks like Lowepro used to make an accessory called the Trekker Tripod Mount, a sort of fabric cup which attached to various parts of the bag and held the tripod feet whilst the top of the legs were secured to the bag. My Google skills have failed me and I can't find it for sale anywhere, or...

    Red Grouse

Sheffield end of Stanage Edge is usually good for grouse and with parking and a flat path. There are some amazing deer around at the moment, generally on Big Moor behind White Edge.

    Asa Wright

Thanks. I’m surprised so few people have been to Asa Wright, I thought it was kind of compulsory! I think I will keep my eye open for 500mm, I’m fit enough not to be too bothered by its weight and it would come in very handy in the UK for me. But if I don’t manage to find one then I’m sure...

    Asa Wright

I have done a search, but surprisingly didn’t find any threads on the subject: We are off to Asa Wright in Trinidad for a few nights in November, so any thoughts or tips would be appreciated. In particular I am wondering about what gear to take. I have a 1d mk4 and a 100-400 mk2 which I have...

    Your hummingbird tips please...

Cheers all, flash is apparently the way to go, but I've never used one for birds before so it could be interesting.

    Your hummingbird tips please...

We are off to St Lucia in a few weeks, and my main aim is to get a half decent hummingbird shot. There are some incredible pictures on the web of hummingbirds, some of which involved false backgrounds, multiple flashes, flowers in a clamp etc, and I wont be going down that route, but I am happy...

    7d v 7dmk2 v 6d v 5d2 etc

Thanks a lot, that's brilliant. The mk2 is clearly streets ahead of the mk1 at 100%. Looks like an expensive weekend coming up!

    7d v 7dmk2 v 6d v 5d2 etc

All good thoughts, thanks. There is no right answer I guess, and as has been said, all are great cameras. I do shoot more sports (running and biking, so no cropping required), and wildlife (regularly crop to less than 25% of original) than anything else. I ought to do nothing and just take...

    7d v 7dmk2 v 6d v 5d2 etc

More food for thought! Mr Gubby, have you found the mk2 much better than the 7d then? Close to the 6d or still a way behind? 5d3 seems the clear favourite, but could I really crop it sufficiently to make up for the lack of crop factor? Reports and reviews seemed mixed on this question. I...

    7d v 7dmk2 v 6d v 5d2 etc

Please help me out here before I go mad trying to come to a conclusion – I have read more reviews than I care to admit, but none seem to make things any clearer for me. I am an amateur photographer, shooting wildlife (mainly birds), landscape, some sport and other general snaps. I have had a...

Good size bag for a 7D + extra lens?

It's just as padded as my lowepro bags I reckon. The buckle is a bit strange but otherwise it's an excellent, stealth camera bag.

Good size bag for a 7D + extra lens?

Have a look at the tamrac rally series of bags. Harrison's in Sheffield were doing a great deal on the rally 6. Mine was less than 30 quid.
