Always great when you get a bargain - a friend of mine brought an old Nikon film camera at a car boot sale for £5 - the only reason he brought it was the 50mm 1.4 lens that was attached the front - amazing piece of glass!

Try pointing the flash back down at 90' and you should find that the display stops flashing
It is down to the ETTL - when you are pointing the flash to the ceiling it is warning you that it cant measure the required distances acuratley.
