Even at a foot away or so it usually remains black. I haven't updated the firmware ever, I bought it in September last year, perhaps I should update the firmware and see if that makes any difference!
Apart from my own body no, though my face would be far enough away from it that I'd expect the monitor to be on. It didn't used to be this bad though which I find odd, it seems to have gotten more sensitive :/
Hi guys, I'm hoping you can help me solve a problem I've been having with my Sony A7ii regarding the monitor.
I'm having issues with live view and the monitor showing a black screen when it shouldn't - I want to be able to use both the viewfinder and live view so in the settings (Cog Menu ->...
Oh, glad you pointed that out - i thought SLTs and mirrorless were essentially the same thing! Good to know about the upper ISO limit too, thanks for that! Will make some edits to the post! :)
I wrote up a personal review on the Sony A7ii that I bought a few weeks ago (along with the 55mm f/1.8 and 28mm f/2 lens) on my website. It's perhaps not as in-depth as many of the other reviews I've read about it, but it summarises my thoughts. Would be good to get your thoughts, interested to...
I'd like to get some spare batteries and a standalone charger for my A7ii, though the genuine Sony ones are hella expensive. Can anyone recommend any cheaper versions?
Hopefully all will be sorted for next weekend as I plan to shoot at a local dog show on Sunday and test it out properly :) Glad to hear the 55mm is great, can't wait to get using it!
It's frustrating but I suppose it's only a few days to wait (hopefully anyways!) In the meantime I'm ordering a...
I bought the Sony A7ii (along with the Sonnar 55mm 1.8) from Jessops yesterday. It's my first step into the land of full frame, but unfortunately my excitement drained after about 20m of playing with as it seemed to die on me! It stopped working and simply showed me a black screen saying "Camera...
Is it possible to buy an umbrella mount that has a screw on the top (for a receiver to screw into) rather than a cold shoe thing? Because that would solve my problem.
EDIT - would this one work?? http://www.amazon.co.uk/Eggsnow-Bracket-Umbrella-Holder-Speedlight/dp/B00KXQIUV2
I've already got a Sony flash though which complicates things. The only problem I have at the moment is finding an umbrella holder that can fit my Sony-fit receiver on it. I'm going to pop into Jessops today and see if they know of any solutions.
I should have researched this ages ago, but I...
Hmm, perhaps the Phottix triggers are the safer option then. I just thought it could be worth the extra £20 to get the ones that can use TTL, but if they're not as reliable there's no point really.
I imagine I'd be using strobes for portraits I set up (both inside and out, for example at...
This is probably such a n00b question but what I mean is, the receiver has a screw hole as seen in this photo on the left - http://3zgehi1uaxi23dphbrgqa50r6z.wpengine.netdna-cdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/02/Phottix-Strato-II-10.jpg
So how do you attach it to this umbrella holder, I can't see...
Another thing I've noticed is that the receivers have a screw hole on the bottom, so they can be screwed on to flash stands. So how come the flash and umbrella holder that sits on top of the light stand has a hotshoe mount, rather than a screw?
