Just looking at the EFV-DC2, I can't find any images of it tilted upright, like you can with the hinged EFV-DC1. Anyone able to confirm either way? I've got that horrible sinking feeling that canon have "updated" another product while removing a key bit of functionality.

It's not easy. With no cable release port you have to trigger the shutter through IR. If you mobile has an IR blaster there is an app (DSLR Remote?) you can use.

You mentioned it was noisier "last night." Does that mean you were shooting under dark conditions with a long exposure time? If so, that can result in more noise even if you have exposed correctly.

I think you are looking at the wrong flares. There are 2 cranes there with red lights at the top, but the flares we are talking about are the faint, rainbow coloured ones circling above the dome.
