Thanks for all the comments. I think I'll backup my images to Picasa online and utilise a free 2gb to back up my other files. I know I can't go RAW but the main thing is the images of my family are safe.

I would personally go for 960px wide. 800px looks a bit narrow on todays bigger screens. This would also allow the option of two columns and the use of side menus and widgets.
