What's the difference between these two lenses?

Sure Matty. And I remember once making a comment about the Nikon D40, suggesting it was a rather poor camera, and got berated for it. Double standards methinks. His comment was simply totally unnecessary Matty, and nothing was done about it. Simple as.

What's the difference between these two lenses?

Provocative nonsense removed. To the OP.... It is widely known (except, of course, by mr 4x4) that Olympus kit lenses are by far the best kit lenses you get with any manufacturer. The Oly 50mm ZD f2 is one of the sharpest lenses ever made. The 12-60mm, when coupled with the E3 is one of...

    Snow on the Beacons?

As Wayne says, take care and be well prepared because the Brecon Beacons can be very dangerous, especially in inclement weather. However, if you are thinking of going up Pen-y-Fan (tallest mountain in Southern Britain) then this can be quite safe especially if you use the Storey Arms route...

    5D and infrared filter

No, you don't need to and you can use an IR filter in front of the glass - but you do need to use very long exposure times to compensate for, as you say, the IR filter in the camera. IR filters used in front of the lens are in fact not IR filters at all, they are ambient light filters that...

    Which white balance for floodlights?

I can't see anything wrong in either (1) shooting in RAW then applying an auto w/b preset when importing into Lightroom or (2) shooting with a setting of auto w/b. The only difference will be the cameras rendition of what the 'auto w/b' setting should be, and Lightrooms rendition of 'auto w/b'...

how weather sealed is your camera.

I can also vouch for the E3 being completely weather sealed. I've never doused it under water admittedly, but it's been out with me in the pouring rain getting as soaked as I was when all other togs were running [their cameras] for cover! Weather sealed, means weather sealed.

    Stofen Outside??

Very informative post there Hoppy, thanks. Maybe just a little fiddly to use, but the demo shots certainly show a marked improvement in the resulting image so it has to be worth it.
