I have Oh Crap mode set up for birds in flight. I am sometimes outside with the 70-200 shooting a horse portrait or similar. It saves all that fiddling around and then it is to late because the bird is gone.

I have one gathering dust in the cupboard.

I crop. I shoot a lot of macro, mainly insects. I also shoot a lot of small birds. For both it is great to be able to crop. The depth of field on the macro shots is increased if I can shoot from further away and crop.

There is a setting to make it work in portrait. You can change how much of the screen in used and if it should move absolute or relative.

Watch from 27.20 it describes it quite well.

Also the function menu is customisable I have change a few of the out of the box settings in there. You can also set up a button to set the camera up a certain way while the button is pressed. (Reg custom shoot) I have the c4 button set for birds in flight. This means if I am out in a field...

3/ You can display a rectangle in the viewfinder to mark the outer edge of phase detect points if you wish.

As it is raining and I did not feel like going out I just went through all my lenses and my A7RII. I updated the camera and the 70-200 GM. All the rest were up to date. It was just as you described and pretty easy.

If my ear is more than 1 foot from the lens I hear nothing. Close to the lens there is a very quiet whir. No high pitched whine.
