Just using Capture NX2 which doesn't allow aligning functionality between images. Still need to decide on the main editing package. Thanks for the info.
Up to now all shots have been in the hand. Just bought a Red Snapper tripod so that should stop the alignment issues. For out of the blue shots though when a tripod isn't available it could be quiet handy to know you can process the shots.
Seem to be a fair number of standalone packages which specialise in HDR. I am currently evaluating Photomatix and HDR Expose. So far HDR Expose seems to be doing a better job at aligning the images.
What are people generally using for HDR?
Before I part with my cash I would like to know...
I thought £100 all in including the head and bag less 10% sounded a good deal tbh. I know a few people with the next model down who are very happy with their purchase. I must say Joe at Red Snapper was very helpful. :)
I have tried a fair few HDR exposures without a tripod with Photomatix and there is bluring which I'm guessing is down to the slight movement between shots. This is with the alignment features enabled. I'm using bracketing of 1 stop, might try 2. Probably bad technique on my part.
Talked to Joe at Red Snapper and went for the Special.

Hopefully it will fit my needs.
Thanks for the input. :)
Hi Simon,
Looks a great tripod but not much left in the budget now. £150 all in would be my match. I suppose there is always 2nd hand.
This seems a decent deal but looks like its a fair weight?

Just bought a Nikon D700 and Nikkor 24-70 2.8G.
I really want to get into HDR photography so I'm looking for a suitable tripod for the camera combo that will give me rock steady pictures between exposures.
I'm assuming I will need a remote shutter release?
There seems to be lots of...
Official owner now and love the D700 and 24-70G combo. Coming from Canon only I can now say I am a Nikon convert. I can't see myself upgrading the body anythime soon.
I did try Capture One many moons ago, when I had my 10D and it was a great package. I'm just trying to get the one package fits all but it seems that might be asking too much.
Trying to get them while they are young. To be honest a good idea. Sebastian loves photography. Started on the Kiddizoom and now on the Fuji, another year he will be on my 40D
Just glad he's not got the strength to use the D700
