    YN560 II and a D3100

Hmm, good advice above, learn how to use this one first. Once you find a good setting you will see good results, bring it to the next meet and we can laugh, I mean look at it, might be a good slave unit for me. Trees in the lakes starting to colour up nicely, hope they are in full splendour...

    Windows 7 upgrade

I would say Clean is definately the best way to go although it is upgradeable, Windows Vista will no doubt leave behind lots of trash you don't need. Make sure you have a decent copy/backup of your files whichever way you decide, although it should upgrade and keep your files, better safe than...

    Canon 40D Software

I think he wants DPP, which you can only download updates for, you need the original discs to get it to work, the updates alone will give an error message. Paul

Have I bought the wrong polarizing filter?

Hells bells, would you believe it I have just re read this thread and my Hoya piece of tinted glass is in front of me, I turned it round and it works a treat? just googled and apperently circular polarizers only work in one direction. I have removed the glass and turned it round, now it...

jpg weirdness - what did I do wrong?!

I notice this effect on this forum, if you copy a post the two pictures, the original post and the new post, have different appearences, does anyone know if this is a jpeg anomoly, if sending pictures is another file format better eg; tiff files, that will replicate precisely how they should...

    Hanging a large photo..

4 to keep the corners down:D Seriously though, fomex board as mentioned is easy to use and will last, double sided tape will ruin the pic eventually. use Velcro on the back of the board, it's easier then get it straight. Paul

Have I bought the wrong polarizing filter?

yes, but get used to the camera metering first, the polarizer will help, not solve. Did you shoot in RAW and do you post process the images? You will see and learn far more from you shots than sticking a filter on. Have a play it's great fun. Paul

Have I bought the wrong polarizing filter?

It will focus OK indoors more often than not, you may see the anomoly when there is a highly reflective scene that you polarize, manual focus, of course, will always work. Paul

Have I bought the wrong polarizing filter?

From what I understand, yes you have the wrong type, a linear one can affect the focus and the metering. I have an old linear type and personally think they work far better than circular types. Don't buy cheap, I bought a cheap HOYA circular polariser only to find out it is nothing more than a...
