    what filter

I've never bothered with a UV filter, never really seen any need for it (maybe we don't get enough sunlight up here though:lol:), as Photodiva suggested there are far more useful filters that you can spend the money on.

    RAW :|!!!

"Absolutely. Raw is basically an electronic negative and captures all the data, and retains it, no matter what you do during post processing." :plusone: That pretty much sums it up. Why not take full advantage of what your camera is capable of?(as long as you have the free time available...

    Theme of Natural Goodness

:agree: NHS run breastfeeding groups all over the place, get in touch. Don't be embarrased, most breastfeeding mothers are proud of it. I'm sure if you offered them a copy they would love it.

    filters? 500d

There are lots of types of filters, so it depends what you want to shoot. If you mean just a filter for protecting the lens, they really aren't necessary unless using using the camera in conditions that could physically harm the lens.

Wanted JPG and RAW comparison photograph.

I want full control of my images, that means shooting raw. Let the camera capture the image and then process using dedicated software. Why would anyone want to let the camera decide what detail is not important in an image?

Should we be surprised people don't "get' copyright?

Agreed. Good photographers will always earn a living. Get a good price for the job you are doing then move on. These copyright debates do nothing for anybody, nobody comes out of them looking good. People need to move with the times or fall behind, it's the way it has always been in all...

Discussion Thread for Prize Competition "BLUE"

Finally got a pic to display, took a while. I'm afraid it is another blue sky photo. I thought this would be appropriate because the whole scene had a blue "cool" kind of look. In my opinion anyway. :)

    Slow shutter speeds

You won't get it any slower without using some kind of filter, not during the day anyway. There is just too much light getting to the sensor. Set a low ISO, small aperture then set your shutter speed. After that, if it is still not slow enough then you will have to use a filter. To...

Thanks for the link Suvv. Lots of great tutorials on there. I've just spent a few hours going through some of the tutorials with some of my pics and I can already see a great improvement.

Learn with MD Lesson no 3.

Here are mine taken with my Canon 450d with a 50mm. I'm quite pleased with the results. In the past I would keep the iso as low as possible and have missed a few shots because of this, maybe its time to bump it up a bit. f8, iso100 f8, iso1600
