Thankyou! :) At the moment I'm just using my mums old 20d with my new Tamron lens which is giving me nice sharp images. I'm not going to bother getting the 400d fixed as it doesn't really seem worth it, and it's probably time I upgraded anyway... so I've decided to save up for a 60d. :)

I disagree with ''all images needing sharpening". I have taken plenty of photos previously which I have not felt needed any sharpening. I want my photos in focus. If they're not then there is a problem with the camera. Just sharpening them on Photoshop is not the answer.

I'm aware I can sharpen it but that's not really the point, I need the camera to be able to take sharp photos!

So I've decided that after owning my camera (400d) about 4 or 5 years now... it is probably time I replaced the kit lens! I was thinking possibly the Tamron 17-50, can someone tell me what 'VC' means? There is £50 difference between the VC and non VC? Or.. The Sigma 17-70. Can anyone...

It's working well for me :) Had to line it with tin foil though, wasn't getting enough light until I did that.

Those shots were with the pringles tube diffuser yes, if that's what you're asking :)
