I purchased a Canon EOS R to use instead of my old 5D2 and 7D. Returned the first due to a fault. Returned the replacement due to the same issue and opted for a refund after that. I have no intention of buying another Canon mirrorless camera.

Thanks for the feedback. Looks like I'm better off sticking with Canon. Just my other half to convince now... ;)

I have had a 5D2 and 7D for a long time (9/10 years) and feel that it's time to move onto something new, and am looking at mirrorless options. I can't afford new lenses so will need to continue using my existing ones, primarily Canon 100mm L Macro, 100-400 mk2 but I also have a 17-40L, 24-70L...

I'd like to move onto the 6d2 from my 5d2, primarily because I'd make good use of the flip out screen. However it's priced too high and should be closer to the Nikon D750 imo.

I'm happy with my 5D2 but would swap it plus £150 for a 6D due to the improved low light performance and built in wi-fi.

You're right. I still use my dslr and lenses because it's a hobby and I enjoy it. I have a rx100 that I use as a pcoket camera. I offer the rx100 to my wife and she says it's too big and she'll just use her camera phone instead. I know plenty of other people that think the same way. People used...

I'll second the Thinktank Retro 20. Holds my gripped 5d2 with 24-70 or 100-400mk2 attached with space on either side for another lens/ flash etc..

If the photographs can be taken without a requirement to use the skills are they essential ?

I have a Tamron 70-300VC (Canon mount). I've been very happy with the IQ from that lens and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.

I could fit my 5d2 and 150-600S mounted (hood reversed or not on) in a Tamrac Expedition 6X so that should fit the C easilly enough. I picked a used one up for £64 from mpb, and that was in like new condition.

While the 150-600S I had seemed OK at upto 10 metres I wasn't happy with the sharpness of subjects further away. That was with both my 5D2 and 7D. On the plus side it was very well built. Felt solid and although heavy the balance was fine so long as the lens hood was left off.

For what it's worth I had a Sigma 150-600S for a few weeks and returned it. Got it for a bargain price from Amazon Warehouse deals so it was a reluctant return but I just wasn't happy with it. I waited a while, deliberated over what to get and went for a 100-400L mk2 which I'm very happy with.
