iPad 3 would be nice, but based on cost and what I'll use it for I think the 2 should be fine. As long as it works it's financially better to risk the VAT, and amazon quotes prices inclusive of all taxes ... decision made! Thanks guys

Possibly the wrong forum, but worth asking the question ... I may have the opportunity to visit the States over the next few weeks and was wondering if there were any issues with buying an iPad2 over there and then bringing it back to the UK ... mostly concerned with functionality as some...

I always take mine everywhere I go - sometimes I leave it at airport security, fortunately they gave it back to me! Personally don't see the point of spening all that money and then not taking it to places, kinda defeats the point.

Has anyone on here moved from the Tamron 17-50 f2.8 to the Canon 17-40 f4 L? I'm wondering whether it's worth it ... the Tamron seems to be pretty good, but I'm thinking of treating myself!

Well it would appear that sometimes I can get lucky - camera returned to me today in one piece :D needless to say I'm a happy chappie - and thanks to those who posted on this thread!

Thanks guys - the policy states cover of personal possession up to £5k away from home, but the camera equipment itself is specifically insured ... as suggested the best way will be contact the insurance company, though I'm still holding out some hope that it can be found!

Obviously I'll have to check the fine print, but in general does your household contents insurance cover you (for being an idiot) and leaving your camera bag in an airport?

Kinda agree with this, however I (somehow) managed to sit through 2 episodes of 5th gear today and realised how the 'tired' TG formula is sooo much better!

Not sure how high Chinese lanterns can get, but these were very high, and certainly didn't have the flight characteristics of a balloon or a craft without an engine.

I've just seen two abnormally bright lights in the sky - definitey not 'standard' aircraft given the brightness of the lights and the fact that one was stationary for a while ... at a guess they're heading south east and i'm based in the north west. Very strange.
