Did you lose an SD card in Norfolk following a trip to Iceland?

Seen on xwittr, nothing to do with me but thought it was worth sharing here on the off-chance the owner is a member or a friend of a member, etc. Can't link to the tweet but easy enough to search the guy's user name.

Flatbed scanner software won't load on W11, possible options or dump?

That's a shame, I've only used it on Windows and haven't used Linux for years so can't suggest anything that might help.

Flatbed scanner software won't load on W11, possible options or dump?

VueScan lists your 4180 as compatible on both Windows and Linux and you can install the free trial to check if it works on your preferred setup before committing to a purchase. I've used it for years with an old Canon 9000F flatbed, the only issues I've had are when I've played around with the...

    Macro...zoom lenses?

Can confirm VueScan is still available for Linux. You can download for free to check if it'll work with your* particular setup and scanner, though any scans from the free version will be watermarked. * "your" as in @Cluster or anyone else using Linux, not Kevin whom I quoted for context.

Show us yer film shots then!

I think it's really impressive for a photo taken in 1923. :jawdrop: Honestly, that's how I read this at first, then I thought, "no, they must mean it was taken at nearly 25 past 7 in the evening". Then I realised that made about as much sense and it struck me that it's the date of the camera...

    First film camera

Congrats on your purchase! The film question is tough as each of us can be attracted to different aspects of various films so you're more likely to get lists of personal favourites than a definitive answer. Your first film should be nothing special, one you can run through the camera to check...

    Ilford FP4+ Motion Picture Film.

My films arrived today, packed better than some camera equipment I've bought in the past! Now I need more excuses to not shoot any of it, the old ones are almost worn out.

    First film camera

Olympus OMs are great for travel, small but still robust and the Zuiko lenses can be excellent. The only issue I found is that they're a bit too compact to be comfortable for my sausage fingers. If you're tempted by a fixed lens rangefinder, the Yashica Electro 35 GX and CC are significantly...

    New films, then?

It's £5 less per roll, which was a big factor in my getting some! The Analogue Cameras page says that it has a different base emulsion to current FP4+, it's a movie film produced for outdoor use. I haven't seen mention of an expiry date but I suspect it's passed given it was a bunch of bulk...

    Ilford FP4+ Motion Picture Film.

That lighting is gorgeous, makes me think of French cinema, which I'm far from being knowledgeable about but it's the look that comes to mind. What a tortured way of saying that I know almost nothing about French cinema.

Thanks for bumping the thread, I'd missed it previously. A dozen rolls ordered because it's been ages since t'missus has rolled her eyes at me receiving photography bits in the post. :D

I love the look that implies this could have been taken any time since the 1950s. Soft colours, light grain, lack of rooftop clutter like aerials and stalactite dishes, marvellous stuff. :)

101 ways to ruin a roll of film

I once put two rolls of 120 on a single reel in an attempt to get through my backlog a bit faster and somehow managed to feed the second film over the top of the first. Salvaged 5 shots from a potential 24 and none of those were worth scanning.

Enabled 2FA a while back but I requested a nickname change earlier today, hopefully no one's counting that as suspicious activity! Thanks to the mods for the update! :)

Couple of test shots from me that really only illustrate how little I've remembered from when I used to do this more often! Kiev 4AM Test Kiev 4AM, Helios-103, Ilford HP5+ (expired), manually metered, stand dev. 1hr Rodinal 1:100 Test shot taken on the Kiev 4AM I bought recently using a roll...
