    Problem with flash metering

So, I've been messing about (more or less at random) with the DIP switches and found a combination which seems to restore expected behaviour. I've set all OFF except F-No. Now I get the same aperture reading regardless of the shutter speed and when I alter the shutter speed after the reading...

    Problem with flash metering

    They are realistic 1/125 at F11 or 1/250 at F8 or 1/500 at 5.6

    Problem with flash metering

There is next to no ambient light. At 1/250, ISO200 the aperture reading from the flash is around F11 so it's obviously seeing the flash

    Problem with flash metering

Yes and I get an aperture reading. However, if I take another reading at another shutter speed I get a different aperture.

    Problem with flash metering

Thanks for that. I'm using non-corded flash mode on the L-508 (I've tried it in corded flash mode too with the same result). The 'flash' meter doesn't seem to understand how flash works.

    Problem with flash metering

But the suggested aperture shouldn't change with the shutter speed. With (essentially instantaneous) flash 1/125 doesn't let in more light than 1/250

    Problem with flash metering

I have a Sekonic L-508 which works fine in most situation, except using studio flash. I set it to cordless flash and take a flash reading, say 1/250, F11, ISO 200. But if I change the sutter speed it changes the aperture, say 1/125, F16, ISO 200. This behaviour is clearly wrong surely? Why...

You entirely misunderstand, I gain no benefit from any visitors to the site, indeed any visitors to the site use my bandwidth allowance, so if anything cost me. I did this from genuine motives, because I wasn't sure of the legal situation (neither were people on other photo forums to which I...

I am not a doctor. I have a PhD Untrustworthy and deception sound like personal insults to me. Nothing childish, just the facts, who else but a fool would make such accusations on the basis of no information whatsoever.

Actually, it was the University of Southampton who gave me my PhD in 1983. That's because I'm not - as i keep telling you. You on the other hand sound like the kind of fool who makes unwarranted accusations of untrustworthiness and deception on the basis of a quick skulk around the internet...

My professional site, where you found my professional title...and? It's the default in my web-authoring software the easiest for me to poll frequently. Not that I particularly feel the need to offer you an explanation, but you did accuse me of untrustworthyness. I've changed it now. Happy?

Don't get me wrong, the UKPR info is good and authoritative, but I find it hard to find the information I need in the comments and answers.

All correct, but I'm not a doctor. You seem determined to find something underhand here - your cynicism will be disappointed. I'm surprised you don't have something better to do

I'd hoped to include a news section with people's experiences with police, private security, members of the public etc. Also the UKPR info is good, but rather unspecific IMHO.
