    Nikon D800......

I've been using the D7000 for a while now, but wanted to move to full-frame (I shoot a few gigs, so I was looking for the extra sensor capability etc). Thankfully, I had the fore-sight to buy full-frame lenses which helps a lot. :-) I must say that I'm certainly liking the D800 so far.

You (and others) might be interested to know that PC World are currently selling Lightroom 3 for £39.99 (plus Photoshop Elements 10 for £34.99). Adobe are bringing out a new LR soon, which might be the reason LR3 is going so cheaply. I think it's still worth getting this version though.

Thanks... I'm going to investigate it properly next week. :)

    Nikon 80-200mm f2.8 AF-D ED

Given the furthest reach I've used so far is 105mm, 200mm should be more than sufficient. In small (local) gigs the 35mm or 85mm is more than adequate. Thanks. :) Steve

    Nikon 80-200mm f2.8 AF-D ED

Thanks for the information, nice gull shot by the way. I can't imagine taking sports shots, so I would like to hope that the bands aren't going to move *that* fast. So I would hope the lens would be able to keep up! ;) Thankfully I can have a play with the lens before I buy it, but the...

    Nikon 80-200mm f2.8 AF-D ED

Depending on the venue, I've used the following lenses: Nikon - AF-S Nikkor DX 35mm 1:1.8G Nikon – AF-D 85mm f1.4 Nikon - AF-S Nikkor DX VR 18-105mm ED Samples of my gig photos can be found here: http://stevek47.smugmug.com/Music With the exception of Amphi 2010 (where I was using the...

    Nikon 80-200mm f2.8 AF-D ED

I'm debating whether it's worth trading in my Nikon - AF-S ED VR 70-300mm Len for a second hand Nikon 80-200mm f2.8 AF-D ED. For me, the biggest pro would be the f2.8, which would be ideal for gig/concert photography, where-as currently I wouldn't even consider using the 70-300mm because of...

Have recently upgraded from the D5000, there's a bit of a learning curve what with having more buttons etc. but I am liking it though, especially the commander flash mode, which was missing on the D5000.

Yes Phil ... it comes with two batteries that would fit the D5000, plus an adaptor should you want to use AA sized batteries. Steve

For me, it makes the camera slightly more comfortable to grip, especially if I'm holding it vertically for portrait type pictures. It holds two batteries, so that you don't have to change them so often. There is a slight downside, insofar that it obviously makes the camera heavier, which is...

I've had a "play" with my 70-300mm lens today and I must say I'm rather pleased with some of the results. http://stevek47.smugmug.com/Landscapes/The-City-and-Brick-Lane/14231436_QNrsa Comments/feedback welcome. Steve

Well, I've just splashed out on a grip from ukpartsdeal (as recommended by Bigvin), which does make a huge difference to the way the camera feels to hold. I was also very naughty and bought a 70-300mm lens, which is quite an impressive piece of kit. Sadly the weather has been a bit too dull...

I've now given it a go and can concur it's actually not *that* difficult to remove! :) What's the performance and ease of use like? I note that John's one doesn't have a vertical shutter release, which I think is one of the main advantages to having this attachment.

I'm toying with the idea of getting a grip at some point. What's this one like? And how easy was it to remove the battery cover on the D5000? I'm a bit concerned that I may end up being ham-fisted and breaking it if I tried. :bonk:
