    Canon 85mm f1.8 - Your opinions please!

My personal findings are that it is very sharp, has decent bokeh at wide apertures, and focuses quietly and pretty fast. My only negative point is that it can be prone to purple fringing, although this can be decreased significantly in pp.

    Colour and printing help please

How do other peoples images look on your monitor? If generally good, then maybe your monitor isn't so bright? Since changing to Windows 7, I couldn't print anything decent, all looked about 2 stops under and no amount of tweaking with the Epson controls would help. Since purchasing a...

    Why are accessories so expensive?

I understand the technology, design, cost etc that goes into producing studio lighting, so expect to pay into the £100's for the actual lighting gear. What rattles me is the price of some of the accessories that goes with it. For instance a single barn door leaf in excess of £20, 4"...

    Speedgraphic

I prefer to use Speedgraphic first and only wander if they cant supply. As already said, their stock levels do appear to be accurate, I really hate it when you order something on the net, only to be informed ages later that the item you haver already paid for is awaiting stock replenishment...

    Help with Studio Lights

I support Gary's post 100%. I started off with hot lights, I soon gave them away after having to shoot at close to 1000iso, and giving my subjects an unwanted tan :) If its studio shooting you want to get into then studio flash lighting is the way to go IMHO. Many advantages, over hot-shoe...

    Understanding Exposure Book

Personally - one as a door stop. People rant about this book, particulary on another unnamed forum, so I just had to have one. When it arrived, I couldn't see what all the fuss was about, and gave it away shorty afterwards. It may be of use to a total newbie, but in my opinion not much use to...

    any elinchrom users

If you are going the RX route, I would also go for the Skyports rather than pocket wizards, although reading again, I see you already have a set of PW's. Skyports are half the price (and half the size) and you will have control over flash output and modeling lights. I don't think (could be...

    Skyport Radio Triggers

I first thought my skyport receiver had a problem as it kept turning itself off after a couple of triggers - even when on charge, where the sleep mode shouldn't come into action. I eventually found out that this was due to me resting the receiver directly on top of a D-Lite 200. I assume the...

    Photography Courses

I went on a one to one course then attended a group course (with another forum) a few months later. I enjoyed both visits, and although I'm not new to photography, yes I did learn.
