    part exchange(mifsuds)

I haven't used mifsuds, but I can heartily recommend MPB having bought several cameras from them. They give a good price when you part exchange, thoroughly check the kit they sell and respond quickly to any queries/issues you have.....check their website!

    Sekonic L-308B light meter

Anybody got one? Thinking of buying one for £99 second hand which should save me around £40 on a new one (e.g. on WEX website). Any comments/suggestions welcome. Thanks.

    Tamron 28-75mm f2.8 SP Di

Thanks Xjacktar - sounds tempting. Hard to decide on a lens for my sort of usage, but this looks a good bet. Appreciate your reply to the post.

    Tamron 28-75mm f2.8 SP Di

Thanks for the replies I'm just considering one for studio use for photographing my 3 1/2 year old & family/friends. Won't have lots of room in my garage when I set it up & wanted some zoom ability as well rather than prime lens.

    Tamron 28-75mm f2.8 SP Di

Anyone able to advise on these, eg image quality and how they compare to the 17-50 f2.8 or Sigma equivalents? Apologies if it's been asked before

    canon 85/1.8 or 100/2?

Don't think you can go too far wrong with your choice of lens & a reliable seller too. Per other threads, I'm torturing myself on decisions too :) Look forward to seeing your photos Regards Steve

They don't come much better in terms of choice, price and service than MPB Photographic!

    Canon 5d Mk1 - an upgrade on 50d?

Let us know what you decide and if you go for the 5dmk1 how you get on. Are you concerned about shutter actuations on the 5D? Sellers don't seem to be able to provide the info (eg LCE said they couldn't tell me)

    Canon 5d Mk1 - an upgrade on 50d?

Re: "Sorry for the high jack Steve..." No problem Trist, I have similar issues and was about to ask Jim pretty much the same questions. :)

    Canon 5d Mk1 - an upgrade on 50d?

Thanks Jim, there's no doubt I need to work at getting to know my way around the camera better in terms of focusing & exposure. Glad they're fairly easy to nail - just need to figure out how now! Good to get some advice from someone who's used the cameras mentioned and I really appreciate your...

    Canon 5d Mk1 - an upgrade on 50d?

Thanks for your suggestions Jim. I think I know how to use the camera, but probably the technique needs a bit of work :) Results from the D50 don't somehow seem to match those I had from my Nik*n D200 beforehand, so I just wondered how the 5D I might compare.
