..has been done here? http://www.flickr.com/photos/wefwef/4298090600/ The guy has some amazing photos, and a lot have processing similar to above. It looks quite grainy, but with details and sharpness. I also think its desaturated slightly. I am not sure where to start with this...

    Photoshop or Lightroom

I use both. But i always start in LR, it is just much faster and smarter.;) Lightroom will handle and correct 95% of my images. There may be 5% that need some heavier image manipulation, then i would have to open CS5. But thats not usual. There muist be something about that image that i...

Question about ISO, Sensor & Aperture

Thanks for the replies. @Ninetyeight - I would say you are right, my images tend to err on underexposed. This tends to be as a result of me wanting to keep the iso low, no flash, and not got to the far extremes of a large aperture. Do you mean that noise is present on an underexposed image...

Question about ISO, Sensor & Aperture

I have a Canon 40D and have recently been slightly dissapointed in the noise i seem to experience at ISO 400 and above. I am trying to get my head round whether i am expecting too much from this camera. I take a lot of indoor low-ish light without flash mainly people pics, just wondering...

    Off Camera Flash - Newbie

Many thanks again for your advise. I won't get time to order a softbox before tomorrow, but i will certainly be able to create some temporary reflectors and i am happy to bounce the flash off the white ceiling. I get another opportunity in two weeks time, so i will try and get some ideas from...

    Off Camera Flash - Newbie

Many thanks!:) So a good move for a beginner might be to use the E-TTL cable, with the Flash off the camera, take some shots, and to use that to get some reference/benchmarks as to how the exposure is being set. With that information i could then remove the cable,m go manual and try to get a...
