I'm using a tamron 70-300mm lens and it does the same thing on my tamron 90mm macro works fine on auto focus but when you just screw the converter to the lens it just feels like something is not right

I have recently bought a kenko 1.5 teleconverter for my pentax k10d, 1 problem i have is when i put it on any of my lenses and turn the lens to manual focus it feels a bit rough to turn, dont know if this is going to damage my lenses or not, has anyone had this problem or is this normal does not...
