And how exactly are they going to be able to tell what I intend to do with the footage while I'm standing in a field flying a drone?
Realistically how often are you questioned by the authorities about your flying? I'd guess never, assuming you're not being stupid with it.
Of course they're not, there is a big difference from taking a few pictures of a new building that's out of the way and flying a drone into an airport flight path. Idiots do stupid things and endanger others, a piece of paper isn't going to change that in the same way that changing the drink...
Are you suggesting that every single person on this thread has CAA permissions and insurance?
Of course they don't.
So as long as I'm not charging for the shots I don't need the permissions. It's not a buisness if it's not earning.
I already have public liability insurance through my limited...
I'm a hobby photographer and I have a day job that pays the bills. I went from a 500d, then decided I liked the hobby enough to upgrade and bought a 7d before moving onto the 5d mk3 I have at the moment. I've just bought a used Canon TS-E 24mm and will upgrade it to the current model if it...
I'm considering adding a drone to my collection of shiny things.
I'd be using it to photograph buildings for an architect friend (to add to the ground level stuff I occasionally do now), so stills and flybys as well as the usual zooming about the place. If this does continue and I start earning...
I had a 500d for the first year, then while looking for a 70-200L (that I still don't have) I bought a 7d that I love. I got it from here and it was as new.
I may end up going to the 5d mk2 sucsessor but that'll be quite a while from now, if they ever release it. Mainly to get better low...
Thread resurection!
As a motorbiker myself I'd say as well as getting static shots see if there is somewhere pretty you can get some shots of them moving. You don't often get the chance to see yourself on a moving motorbike.
I did this in the summer on a tour of Germany with the lads and...
Chaiparinia for me, or made with vodka to be a chaipirosca (no idea about spelling it).
1 lime, some brown sugar, crushed ice and fill with cane rum. Properly lethal and strangely refreshing.
Of course the last night out I was on we went through loads of Jagerbombs.
I only seem to like...
The lenses you've suggested would give a good range, I've been paticularly impressed with the 50m F1.8.
Have you looked at used lenses? You might eb able to get better stuff for similar money.
The IS is image stabilisation. It stops your shaky hands from ruining pictures and allows you to use slower shutter speeds as a result (worth having).
The 18-55 is a the focal length of the lens.
So a normal walk about and take pictures of people or scenery is usually around the 18mm at the...
I did exactly that last year, we did 1800 miles around California in a convertable mustang in two weeks. I also bought a 500D before going!
You'll learn as you go along, the camera has a full auto mode as well as priortiy modes so you can experiment.
Buy more memory cards than you think you...
I use the Tripod for landscape shots or things like cities at night where I need long exposures. It's great for these but for most of the pictures I take I don't use it.
