I absolutely love the 40D, compared with my old 450D the controls are so well thought out and easy to access! Not saying the 450D was bad, but I love the extra buttons and the big control wheel on the back is just such a good step up. Love that everything is just there on the camera and so well...
Decided to leave the local 55-250mm as I just realised it's only £6 cheaper than it is brand new on Amazon.
Will just have to be patient and wait for my 60days of membership to elapse and get myself looking in the classifieds!
I found the 50mm a bit tricky to use to be honest to start with, the temptation was to get the aperture nice and wide but it just gave me a lot of tasteful blur and virtually no detail on the subject. I like how fast it is though, and after a few goes just snapping random objects I started to...
Well based on the good advice here, I have just bought the 18-55mm IS... £50 seemed too cheap to not get it. Has UV filter with it too, which is nice extra.
Just waiting to here back about the 55-250 now.
I've just taken delivery of a second hand 40D off eBay, and I am very very pleased with it.
It was a body only deal, however a friend has let me borrow a Canon 50mm until I get myself a lens or two this weekend-ish.
I have seen a Canon 55-250mm for sale locally that I am very tempted by...
I was going to post this.
Issues behind the video are fully worthy and awful. The people behind the video however are very suss and not (it seems) somewhere you should be sending your money or support.
Argos do a kit for this, I'll dig out the name when I get home from work. It's was about £24 I think. Very similar to the IKEA producted already quoted but the light is a lot whiter - there was a massive thread about this on AVForums and I think a fair few people took the IKEA set back as the...
A lady I used to work with who was shall we say, somewhat eccentric, used to keep an old PE whistle by the phone. If it was a cold caller she'd blow it full belt into the handset...
I still love my Denon 5.1 system I got about 7-8yrs ago. Sound is incredible on it, when it's up loud the windows shake.
In terms of great sound, the scene in Thor when they fight the Ice Trolls sounds mental. Really put my speakers through their paces. The new Tron movie really uses the...
Ah right yeah. That would make sense. I think the one you mentioned before would be about right for what I want to begin with anyway (would need a second hand one though...)
Yeah it's been really helpful seeing how good the feedback on the 40D has been - I've never really read reviews or comments on the bigger, more serious cameras until now, as I'd always considered them out of my range. I'm actually quite excited at the prospect of owning a 40D, even if it is...
Thought I'd introduce myself, just starting to try and get back into taking pictures properly again after a couple of years without a DSLR.
Hoping to snag myself a 40D in the next couple of weeks and maybe a nice lens too
Photography wise I'm keen to learn how to take half decent...
I've done a bit of reading and a few searches on this forum for the 40D, and I think my mind is completely made up.
40D + a decent lens to get me started again. It's the same camera my friend has, so I'm going to try and have some hands on time with it.
