Help required with Sony A58 file size

I have just bought a Sony A58 20mp to use as a lightweight travel camera. I have only taken a few trial shots with it and when I opened them in Photosho and checked image size, I noticed the resolution was 350 pixels/inch which seems extremely high, given the resolution for commercial printing...

    Metering for ND filters

I have just started using ND grads for landscapes ( Coking P series ) but I am a bit puzzled. I want to hold the sky back and retain foreground detail. The question is, how do I meter for this. Could someone talk me through the process. Any advice welcome!

    Sony raw converter

I have a Sony A300 and currently use the raw conversion software which came with the camera. It's ok up to a point but it's very basic. Can anyone suggest an alternative which they have used or maybe a plug in for CS2. Thanks.

    Help with choosing zoom lenses

If you don't want to part company with a load of dosh, the Tamron 70-300 is pretty decent. It's going for around £170 at the moment. E Bay probably even cheaper used. It hunts a little on AF but produces some decent images.

    Lens advice please!!

I am considering the purchase of a brand new, boxed, discontinued Tamron 28-105 F4-5.6. I shoot mainly landscape and currently use a Sony A300. I have read some good reports about the lens but wondered if any of you guys actually use one and what you think of it. It's not a lot of money at £70...

Got myself a 1969 VW Beetle

I had an old 1962 Beetle I bought for £120 years ago when I was skint and needed a car for work. What can I say...6 volt electrical system. The headlights let you see about 10 feet ahead of you. A radio the size of a small house, but.......it never once failed to start, it ran like a sewing...

    Topaz, anybody used it??

I had the 30 day trial version of Topaz. It's still available to download at their site if you want to try it out. It produces an HDR effect but I thought the results looked overcooked. Used sparingly however. it can make a huge difference to landscapes, clouds in particular but you could get...

    Review Tamron 70-300mm Telephoto Lens

For what it's worth, I bought this lens with my Sony 300 from Jessops earlier this year. I have used it regularly and I am delighted with the results. It does tend to hunt a little but once its locked on it's fine. I have seen litlle evidence of purple fringing and it's certainly sharp enough...
