    Wales Rally GB 2009

I think Thursday, although I might be wrong. I wondered if there'd be a recce/test day before that though.

Very tempted to go, but I've got visitors that weekend. Does anyone know where and when the practice/recce's will be?

How was this shot lit? A new challenge

I'll have to give this one to Ed. The softbox is actually just to the right of the camera. However, everything else was spot on. It's shot on a light table with a honeycomb underneath providing some fill under the boot. Scott

    Another 70-200mm question...

It's quite a light lens, so it wont wear you out carrying it round all day. I've shot motorsports, eagles, the Statue of Liberty, etc with it, and it's been a great bit of kit. As long as you keep the shutter speed fast enough, you'll have no issues. Can't say I miss IS on it, however, my...

How was this shot lit? A new challenge

Nope, but you're very warm. The areas you are looking at there are not true flat surfaces, so the light might throw you a bit. My boots are a bit mashed up :)

Left from the camera, or left from the boots perspective?

    Another 70-200mm question...

I've got the Canon F4 L and I love it. Focusing is fast, smooth, and accurate. Weight is good. Image quality has been fantastic. Can't comment on the Sigma option, but I can highly recommend the Canon.

what lens will i need for athletics photography?

Remember that a pro photographer might not be shooting with an smaller sensor (which gives you the 1.6x crop). On a full-frame camera, a 300mm 2.8 lens will give you a true 300mm, whereas on a 1.6x sensor you could potentially fill the frame at 200mm by comparison.

Interesting setup there. Here's a still-life, which shouldn't pose too many problems...

How was this shot lit? A new challenge

Good to be stretched. I did think the light on the left was with a grid initially, but the overall coverage of light confused me. If we're looking at the basics, there are at least two sources behind the subject, to either side (not quite at a 45 degree angle). It could even be...

How was this shot lit? A new challenge

Crashed and burned  How about the rim lighting done with natural light*? :suspect: * Highly speculative crazy thinking there

How was this shot lit? A new challenge

Ok, new boy stepping in to the ring (so go easy hey!!). I'd hazard a guess that the side lighting is done by bouncing the light off a couple of large white relectors behind the subject to either side. The front light (judging by the eyes) is probably a beauty dish. The issues with the light...

    Professional clean/service - any recommendations?

I used to get mine done at Fixation UK in Vauxhall when I worked in London. Think it was £35, but they did it while you wait. Scott
