    Beginner Workflow

Funny this is Beginners yet, as I'm reasonably experienced I still ask questions. Anyway. Interesting read, agree with the non-helpful 2nd post. I'm very like that at times so made me laugh. I gather bits of wood and other bits'n'bobs and I can guarantee that when I throw something out I will...

    Dark Sky

I was looking at the skylink appearance (20/04) and thought I'd look at the weather using Dark Sky. It appears that this app has been bought by Apple and from 1st July it is no longer going to be available for Android users. Was one of the best weather apps I used. Will be missed!

    Simon Baxter/ Mark Littlejohn trees

Have you tried Macclesfield Forest near Surprise View as there are plenty of silver birch trees - a favourite of Nigel Danson

    Free lighting e-book

Thanks Gary, just received the book. Had a quick look at the area I a currently interested in (buying) and it has really helped. Had a quick skim through the rest and I like the projects you go through which will help reinforce, in a practical way, what has been read. Thanks again. (I'll leave...

    New lighting setup recommendation

Thanks Garry for your input. I'll have a look at the Bowens/Godox and I think I pop into the Lencarta store over the Christmas period as I'm not a million miles from the place. Thanks again and to all who have contributed.

    New lighting setup recommendation

That's is my point, I don't have a budget in mind. I want to hit my criteria based on the forums experience of lighting and understand the cost. Then I can decide whether I can afford it, whether I need to go 2nd hand or whether I need to save.

    New lighting setup recommendation

Hi All – Bit of a wild ask here but I’d like to tap into your knowledge and experience about lighting. About 25-30 years ago I dabbled with still life and a bit or portraiture/fashion which I quite enjoyed. I hired, on a few occasions, a set of flash heads from Leeds camera outlet (can’t...

    Nikon D750 & D780

They are saying the D610 will vanish and the D760 will become an entry level FF camera. ENTRY LEVEL. I'm not having an entry level camera....off to buy a new one ;) More importantly, there is a rumour of a firmware upgrade.

    2nd Tripod

Right, lets put a conclusion to this post; I eventually bought a Benro TSL08CN00 Slim Carbon-Fibre Tripod with Ball head new for about £75 during Black Friday/Easter Monday/Cyber Thursday month long event (you get what I mean). I did very little research other than look at the spec; it was light...

    2nd Tripod

Hi and thanks for your input. The bean bag option is a good one and something I have thought of to support one of my very long lenses for wildlife photography - maybe this is the tipping point to buy one. As for the Pixie, this is below my budget new, I'm not convinced it will fit the bill. I...

    2nd Tripod

I already have a Manfrotto 055xprob tripod which I use for general landscape work and can cope with the size and weight but I'm traveling around with work at the moment and want to do a bit of night photography in iconic places so would need a tripod. The Manfrotto, due to its size and weight...

    Sigma 150-600 Lens Hood query

I've got the sport and you just make sure that you put the hood on level and as far back as possible and tighten the screw as far as it goes - doesn't have to be very tight. It could also be that the thread has gone on the hood itself therefore making it useless. Word of warning. I originally...

    RAF100 London Flypast

Fast jets, I've never seen them go so slow. For poor logistical reasons on my part I only had 70mm reach (FF) and with fantastic (not) grey clouds I used St Paul's as my backdrop. The 100 display was well executed but all the crowd were concerned about were the Red's. Biggest cheer of the 9...

    RAF100 London Flypast

It appears that on 10th July the RAF are sending over London (Thames) a number of their aircraft, past and present, ranging from helicopters, BBMF and the recent jets. I saw a tweet of it which I have no idea how to link but I'm sure if you google #RAF100 you will find something. I have the...
