I recently had a hard disk problem with an ageing pc. It meant that the current installation of XP was no longer bootable, but the rest of the PC was fine. I simply bought a new hard drive and was then faced with the dilemma of re-installing XP, or going another route. Given the impending demise...
DPP is pretty limited as a workflow tool, so you may be better off sticking with what you're used to.
However, if you shoot RAW format, I'd push the same image through DPP as well as any other tools you have to see if you think it does a better job of conversion. If you prefer what it does...
This is clearly camera specific as my manual says...
"shooting is still possible as long as the maximum burst indicator in the viewfinder shows "1" or higher"

What do you guys do when shooting bulb exposures? Do you have this option turned on or leave it off and handle any noise in PP?

Know it's still a way off, and they couldn't even get it right at a couple of hours notice for last night, but met office currently suggesting thunder storm for weds night. Who needs fireworks!!!
Wish I'd been able to get away from work earlier and arrange to meet some of you guys. Clearly picked the wrong location as I was in a rush and not got a single shot worth keeping. May try city fireworks at cosham during the week.
