Thanks Andy - I've in touch with Sigma and they have quoted me £80 to get it fixed! I'm going to see if my insurance covers accidental damage.

On Sat I started getting an error when using my Sigma 24-70mm, other lenses work fine. It seems to have a problem focussing and then gives an error about communication with the lens. I've tried cleaning the contacts by gently wiping them with alcoholic wipes from Maplins but this has not...

Thank you. What I meant by the second question was if I went from 1600 f/2.8 to 100 f/20 would I then have to compensate by more than 8 stops....i..e whatever the total number of stops was? Or is there a golden rule/limit? (Hopefully I haven't confused you more!)

This is slightly OT, but how does this (the MKII version) compare with the kit lens for the 450D (18-55mm)? Would it be an upgrade IQ wise?

So I lit a candle in my room but was only able to get a max of 30secs before the display flashed bulb. This was the max time regardless of the iso and fstop settings....how is everyone here getting the longer exposures? *edit* Just Googling Bulb mode and it seems the way to go??

This thread has made for a very goodread - however I have a question: Is there a golden resolution for hosting pics on the web? At the moment I am not resizing my pics and upload them as is to Flickr, but want to change this to make efficient use of it.
