Evening, staying in Windermere next month for a couple of nights, got absolutely no knowledge of this area or locations so would appreciate some suggestions. I prefer to take LE shots, sunrise/sunset shots, any suggestions welcome and I will check it out thanks in advance sherbs

Thanks for all the feedback and suggestions folks it’s very much appreciated, I’m aware I have a DX but plan on upgrading to FX at some point so would rather get an FX lens that I can keep

It was closed at the entrance next to Keswick and also next to Lodore Hotel so looks like a good stretch of road closed! Had a look through my shots, this is all I've really got, I know its probably done to death but for a 5 hour round journey its the only thing I have to show for it

Not sure but it looked like there was some serious construction going on, there was quite a few vans parked up in a purpose made car park so I would imagine it’s closed for a while! I stopped at Buttermere and couldn’t believe the reflections, took a shot that I imagine is a very popular one...

Got maybe one or two decent shots, the sun was just too harsh and that coupled with not really knowing the area made for a frustrating day, the road between Keswick and Borrowdale was also closed so ended up taking a huge detour that cost me about 40mins!! Back home and it’s fajitas for dinner...

Cracking drive down this morning, light is a bit harsh but will try and get something decent! Little bit of snow on Skiddaw although I think in this sun it will be gone soon

Might head to the Theatre then and walk down a bit! Absolutely gutted the snow has gone [emoji85]

My plan is to park in the great wood car park and walk over to the little outcrop of land at Barrow Bay, that should hopefully get some decent reflections from that point

Thanks for the info!! The thought of the drive down is putting me off but I’ve not been out in ages so I need to get out! Thinking of heading down for lunchtime and spending a few hours around Derwent water, hopefully it’s quiet [emoji106]

Thanks buddy that’s some great knowledge!! I’m def going to go to Derwent water to try for some shots, will check out the web cams tomorrow and hope for some snow!! Coming from Glasgow so not too far, would you suggest sunrise or sunset?? Or is the light decent enough all day? Scott

Any tips Mikeldore? Would Derwent water be the best option for getting Skiddaw in shot?
