Waiting to see if my local weekly needs me again this season, to cover our 4 local sides in the Wessex League.
Hope things pick up for you guys who rely on photography to put food on the table.
I use the Canon 300mm 2.8 on a 1d MkIV giving good results, built like a tank. Like Kipax said if you are going to be using a two camera set up then the 300mm is the way to go IMHO.
Solid advise from Kipax, I try to slightly over expose under floodlight too. Also, if using LR sharpening tool make sure you use the masking slider as well.
@KIPAX: Shot some floodlight football on Saturday and some indoor futsal on Sunday (ISO 12800). Frame rate is much better, doesn't feel like the camera is hesitating.
Still have the few OOF, but that is down to me and not the camera.
I was wondering why under floodlights my frame rate was dropping. I was set at equal priority for both 1st & 2nd. Will give your settings a go Kipax and see how I get on.
Shoot low, don't chase the game, settings will depend on available light and speed of play. I would shoot wide open with a shutter speed that will freeze the action.
For hockey I normally sit somewhere between the 25 yard line and goal line on the opposite side to the umpire. Not done much...
Very impressive Tony. Now you have me wanting a MKII for those winter night football matches at non league grounds where they use candles for floodlights.
Cant grumble though as the MKI does a decent enough job.
Wether shooting kids or adults I always seek permission from both clubs. I have only been refused once by a cricket team with some 16 year olds playing. They required me to be CRB cleared.
