I use MAnfrotto tripod with the Manfrotto pistol grop ball head, makes for quick positioning and will go to portrait from landscape quickly. I am very much a touchy feely person so went allong to a coouple of camera shops and played with the goods b4 I bought. as I said for what it is worth.
