Thanks and yep I know the meaning of the DN designation and it’s why I’m looking at that specific lens, I just wasn’t aware Sigma were having the same issues so needed to be sure before I start more research....

Thanks that’s interesting so just checking you mean the Sigma 14-24 DG DN? I know the Samyang can suffer with that so it’s the reason my wife bought from Amazon for the easy return but didn’t know the Sigma could be the same....
Yes of course and it’s sort of what I meant in that I seem to have achieved shots at a reasonably “low” iso given the limitation of shutter speed to keep things static. 14mm will give me even more time or, most likely, even lower iso especially with its faster aperture too.
Ive been trying to shoot the stars and have been using the 24-105 f4 and it has, at least, shown me that using f4 seems fine. I just need to wait for the right sky and maybe a decent location. Having said all that I fancied a different lens and ummed and ahhed over the Sony 20mm, samyang 14 and...
I recently bought the Neewer A7III battery grip and for about £30 extra I could get it with two batteries so I did. They seem to have worked just fine, no error messages at all.
Ok, well here is what I have and I cannot claim to be the inventor as I will have seen it somewhere else. There may be a better way to do it too.
First set up the memory:
Menu Shoot Mode 4/14 - Reg Cust Shoot Set
Recall Custom Hold 1
Select in that menu list:
"Focus Mode" - set to "DMF"
"Focus...
Not for that lens but can't imagine it's any different but I have a button set up to recall a memory setting that has DMF selected. Basically press, manual focus tweak, done. If that's what you mean I'll send the info
I also bought one of the Arca Swiss "upside down" ballheads as once it's level you can pan to your hearts content and seems easier than using the legs to do the same....
