Hi iv been looking 4 a new lens. Keeps looking at tamron 17-50 xr di ii ld. Not wanting 2 spend much over 200 hundred. Is this the lens for me.

I've read on here that you are better off learning with window light for portraits if it's available rather that studio style lighting. Now I'm a total beginner so I'm trying to soak in all the info given to me, but I was reading an article by a well know portrait photographer, cant remmember...

Thanks for the advice. I've been looking at lenses and reading lots, and instead of going for the 18-55 I was thinking of splashing out on a Tamron 17-50 2.8 as I've read it's good for portraits and my wife and I are going to have a baby soon. I've also read good things about the canon 15-85...
