I use cRAW rather than full RAW on my R5 so the file size is 17MB rather than 45MB - much easier to handle and no discernable loss in image quality! Russ :)

Beginner Do I need a macro lens for watch photography?

I took these shots for my son. Natural light, standard zoom lens at 80mm, F13, 1/320s hand held: Russ

Firmware Version 1.4 now available for R5 and R6. It contains some useful improvements for stills as well as video. For those into bird photography, this video from "Whistling Wings" explains the improvements for birds-in-flight shots: View: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GJgTQ2JeUt4&t=5s...

I believe Kevin @cruso is using that macro lens with his R5. Russ

    1DX2 to R5

I made the move from 1DX2 to R5 and, although it took a little time to become familiar with the mirrorless parameters, the move for me was amazing with the animal eye AF for tracking in-flight birds. Go for it (y) Russ

    Bloody WEX

I feel your pain, Les :) - but do you really have to cancel your trip for the sake of a missing monopod? Russ

Poll , Would you contribute to the running of T.P

I've voted yes to a subscription (and I'm a Yorkshireman ;)) on condition that TP removes the Like button from the Photo Genre sections to encourage more critique of images. Russ

Notice Some big changes coming to TP

Another big thank you from me Marcel for all the hard work and commitment you and the various team members have given willingly over the years. TP has become a big part of my on-line activities, and if it were to disappear completely it would leave a big hole in my bird photography life! It's...

    - it would have been nice if the latest R5/6 FW upgrade had included a facility to have an adjustable ES shutter speed (rather than being permanently at 20fps) and also had introduced a simulated shutter sound for ES (rather than absolute silence). It's alarming how many exposures I take in ES...

Paul, I use Lightroom CC on a new Windows desktop PC. I moved from a 10 year old PC earlier this year and find that LR now really flies. My new PC spec is nothing special (Intel i5 6-core 106000; 32GB DDR4; 4TB hard disc and 2x SSDs). I put the LR application itself onto the fast SSD (Samsung...

    - Although my shots are mainly of wildlife, I remain permanently in Servo for all my static and moving shots. I see no reason to use One Shot at all, because even a posed person/ animal can move slightly. Russ
