What is this track like with shooting behind the fence.
The longst lens I have is 200mm on a 1.3 crop would this be ok from the spectator areas?
If so any good tips on where to go?
With Combe so long as you have the correct P/L which i think is a 1 million then just speak to them before hand and it should be simple. go in and see them on the day and sign the form and get a lovely white bib...
is there and off the shelf product that gets the clamps further away from the cups?
I have seen the cups with an extension pole on but this means you lose the swivel mount, and means another 60 odd quid each.
Agree with desantnik, plus if you car is in the paddock Castle Combe isnt that big so you can always offload stuff.
Walk down to Quarry courner and have a go at panning you can get quite close and 55 on 7d with a little crop should get you something decent.

Thanks. I am using the normal manfrotto cups and clamps with just my ball head bolted to the end of the pole. Going to purchase magic arm tomorrow but wanted to try it first. Pole is 50mm Ali 2x 1.75m and then a 40mm steel joiner which is just over a meter.
Just gave it my first try. Remote didnt turn up in time and the girlfriend wouldnt push so drove it on quite a bumpy road but all in all i was quite happy and learnt alot.
Next time I want to try get the rig more stable and spend more time in PP only took a few mins when I think it needs alot...
If you want to pan then start at around 200 and keep it to f8 by adjusting iso if need be. once you start getting some nice sharp shots reduce the shutter to gain more motion blur.
